According to New Jersey Casino Control Commission, Casinos in Atlantic City increased their revenues from gamblers by 4.5 percent in August, in comparison to August 2005.
Casinos' gambling winnings totaled $494.4 million during the month, the state regulator said.
The Sands was the only major disappointment. Its numbers fell 12.2%. They will close in November and begin construction on a bigger, more luxurious casino resort.
Borgata rose 13.9 percent in August, with Hilton up 12.9 percent, and Trump Marina 10.7 percent.
The 12 casinos in the second-largest U.S. gambling market increased their slot machine revenue by 3.4 percent to $363.5 million, while table game winnings rose 7.9 percent to $130.9 million.
During the first eight months of the year, casinos revenues from gamblers were $3.5 billion, up 4.1 percent over the same period last year.
Casinos in Atlantic City are trying to transform the city into an entertainment center like Las Vegas, by adding shopping venues, hotel rooms and restaurants to a mix that still dominated by gambling.
