30 years in prison was the sentence given on august 31st to a man from Greenwood, South Carolina, who was convicted of shooting another man during a poker game that took place a year ago.

58-year-old Freddie Edwards was found guilty of murder after six hours of deliberation by a jury.

According to witnesses, the deceased, George Freeman, was shot in July 2005 after refusing to follow Edwards’ poker game rule involving putting money into the pot.

Following the argument, Edwards took a gun from his home and proceeded to chase Freeman, according to authorities. He eventually caught up Freeman and shot him one shot in the face, said prosecutor Jerry Pace and added that they were both good people and that Edwards was caught up in his anger and as a result had done a stupid thing.
