The 2006 United States Poker Championship has ended on Saturday. The big winner was Alex Jacob, winning his first major title with $878,000 in the tournament's $10,000 main event.
The U.S. Poker Championship was held at the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, N.J. and had some of the biggest names in poker.
Jacob, one of the most talented young stars has won more than $1.6 million in only one year of live-tournament play. Prior to this his best effort was finishing 2nd place in the World Poker Tour Foxwoods Poker Classic Main Event in April, which was won by Victor Ramdin. That tournament earned him $655,500 which allowed him to play professionally in poker tournaments following his graduation from Yale university in May. On top of this he also reached two other final tables at the recent WSOP and cashed in two events.
