According to a local newspaper report, more than 260 government workers in Chuzhou city, located in east China's Anhui province, were given disciplinary warnings or even fired for playing poker during office hours.

The local government, in order to improve government work efficiency, has investigated 75 local governmental departments, organizations and departments since 2005 in effort to find where workers are misusing work hours and neglecting their work.

Many government workers were found to be consistently late for work or would play cards and computer games during work hours. They were given warnings or fired according to the severity of their slackness, according to a local official.
