The World Series of Poker is gearing up towards the next tournament in 2007. Harrah's Entertainment, Inc. has announced that the 38th annual WSOP will start on June 1, 2007. The tournament will be held at the Rio All-Suite Hotel ad Casino in Las Vegas, of course.
Next year's final table with the $10,000 buy-in No-Limit Texas Holdem World Championship will begin on July 17.
The 2006 World Series of Poker had a total prize pool of more than $171 million and more than 48,000 poker players who registered for the tournament, more than any other WSOP, or any other live poker event, in history. The winner of the main event, Jamie Gold, a television producer from Los Angeles and a poker rookie, won $12 million and maintained the chip leader title throughout the tournament. Paul Wasicka, who faced Gold in the Final Table, won 2nd place and earned $6 million.
A complete schedule of WSOP events will be announced by Harrah's Entertainment by the end of 2006.
