Eighth Wonder, a Las Vegas-based resort developing company led by gaming and entertainment industry pioneer Mark Advent, plans to net Singapore's second casino license, with the help of soccer legend, Pele.
According to Advent, a 5,000-seat stadium named after the legendary player will be part of the "Harry's Island" hotel and casino resort if Eighth Wonder wins the Sentosa island development over the other two contenders.
Pele will be an ambassador of good will, said Advent. He will serve as the head of the Sports Academy dedicated to developing youth participation in sports.
The company's planned Harry's Island resort is based on a fictional adventurer and explorer created by Mark Advent. Eighth Wonder aims to invest $3.5 billion in the project if it wins the bid.
The other two competitors for the bid are Genting International-Star Cruises team, which part of Malaysian casino operator Genting Group and Kerzner International, which has teamed up with CapitaLand.
The winner of the Sentosa project will be announced in early December.
