WSOP Champion Jamie Gold Files Motion for His Remaining $6 million Prize

Jamie gold, the 2006 World Series of Poker champion and winner of the tournament's $12 million grand prize has filed a motion to dissolve the preliminary injunction preventing him from collecting the second half of his winnings. Gold has so far received only $6 million out of the $12 million due to a law suit filed against him by Bruce Crispin Leyser shortly after the WSOP.

According to Leyser, Gold promised him half of the $12 million because Leyser had managed to get two celebrities which will represent Bodog, which also sponsored Gold in the tournament. Leyser recorded his phone conversation with Gold and submitted it as evidence.

Gold`s motion, which was filed at the U.S. District Court of Nevada on Wednesday, November 1, 2006, admits that he did promise to compensate Leyser, but as a gift, not as compensation for services which Leyser says he provided to him.

Since Leyser is only seeking money damages, and because Gold stipulates that there was never a contract, only an unenforceable promise, it is not likely that Leyser will win his law suit, Gold`s motion recommends that the injunction be dissolved, and that he be permitted to retrieve the remaining $6 Million of prize money from the Rio.

He should keep it all to himself!

Jamie Gold should not let that guy take his money. He earned it by playing against thousands of players in the 2006 WSOP.

Just because someone does you a favor by bringing some celebs to the tournament doesn't mean he should get $6,000,000!

Or is it?
