The major British gambling group Ladbrokes is showing interest in online gambling giant 888 Holdings. The two companies have held preliminary talks. According to analysts, Ladbrokes planned to enter the online gambling for a long time and the recent crash of those companies due to the recent law in the United States provided the perfect opportunity.
Ladbrokes has also held some preliminary talks regarding consolidation with Party Gaming and Bwin. 888 holdings told the London Stock Exchange that it had held discussions with third parties. This followed the reported talks between the company and rival Party Gaming.
John Anderson, 888's chief executive, was also Ladbrokes executive director for six years. Both 888 and Ladbrokes declined to comment on the talks between them.
Many online gambling companies have had various discussions regarding consolidating, cooperating and finding a way to remain profitable after the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act became a law in the United States. Most of the companies lost between 50 percent and 85 percent of their income because of it.
