Dozens of people gathered on Friday outside Wynn Las Vegas to protest the casino's new tips distribution policy. About 80 protestors carried signs in support of dealers in the resort that are forced to share their tips with their supervisors.

Since September 1, when the new policy began, with much resentment against Steve Wynn, the casino mogul that owns the Wynn Las Vegas, as well as many other Las Vegas hotels and casinos.

Jack Lipsman from the International Union of Gaming Employees, who organized the protest, said the group initiated the protest in order to defend the rights of dealers. According to Lipsman, for the first time in 75 years of gaming Wynn is taking the dealers tip money and uses it to pay salaries.

Before the policy change, the dealers at the resort earned an average of $100,000 a year including both wages and tips. Their managers usually earned about $60,000 a year, with no tips. Wynn Las Vegas attempts to equalize the incomes between the workers.

The new policy, provided managers with an increase in their base wages, realigned dealers to an average of $90,000 a year, while supervisors began making $95,000 a year.
