Walker Digital Gaming, a company owned by inventor Jay Walker, that owns several hundred casino-related patents, has come up with a revolutionary video poker machine. The new game allows the player to buy a certain amount of poker hands he can play for a set cost.
The new poker video machine, called "Guaranteed Play" will be offered to casinos in Las Vegas within the next six months. Gamblers will have the chance to buy, for example, 400 hands for $40, that can last the player between 20 minutes to an hour of game time, which he can enjoy without the fear of losing all of his money or finishing the game after just a few bad hands.
Walker started working with International Game Technology, makers of slot machines, a few years ago and began designing the game. According to IGT's Director of Video Poker, John Daley, players in focus groups have stated that they would like to see exactly where their money is going.
Many gamblers are intimidated by gambling and the possibility of losing their money so this game can be a perfect solution for them and can provide them with a safety net, in which they may enjoy the game with peace of mind. Some gamblers just desire more control over their gambling budget and how quickly they wish to spend it.
IGT has been testing the machines at some local casinos. It remains to be seen if the "Guaranteed Play" machines will be a success and even contribute to curb gambling addiction or whether they will remain just an unused video poker machine at the far corner of casinos.
