Singapore is planning on training the future staff of the city-state's upcoming casinos in a special school dedicated to gambling.
Singapore's anticipated gambling era is the cause for the rising interest in gambling. The new era will begin in 2009, when the construction of two new casinos will be completed, with expected $1.4 billion revenue a year for the city-state. The casinos will also provide employment to 35,000 people.
Freshmen at the Club Gambling Training Center study the arts of sorting chips, spinning roulette balls and shuffling decks of cards. The first class of graduates is expected to finish by January. The six months training courses cost around $3,300.
The students are also taught several cheating tricks so that they may be able to spot them. Most casinos don't teach these things because they worry that the dealers might pass them on to others.
