A new $8 million casino is planned to open in February in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, by the Osage Nation Indian tribe, of the nearby Osage County.

Pam Shaw, Osage Nation's marketing manager, said that they hope to take advantage of Bartlesville's strong tourism market and also to help expand it with the casino's attractions. Tribal officials said feasibility studies showed they can also attract players from Kansas.

The new casino will be decorated with a mountain lodge theme to complement the nearby Woolaroc museum. The 42,000-square-foot casino occupies 40 acres of land that is the property of some of the tribe's citizens.

The casino features 600 slot machines and video poker machines, table games, 700 parking spaces and offers a bar, a patio and a buffet. The tribe, which also operates casinos in Sand Springs, Hominy, Pawhuska and Tulsa, plans to add a hotel to the casinos.

Well it's now March and still no sign of an opening date on the new casino....how do we get information on the new place? When is the new official grand opening? Other than that, this a wonderful and inventive idea. This will bring quite a bit of turism to bartlesville and the other historic land marks of this little town. Thanks so much for all that you do.

I know Michael Allen and think the casinos are a waste of good land.
