An 80-year-old casino in Lake Tahoe, Nevada, that once belonged to Frank Sinatra is about to undergo a major renovation.
According to owners of the casino, The Cal Neva Resort Spa and Casino in north Lake Tahoe is scheduled for a $50 million to $70 million overhaul which will upgrade the casino in order to compete with other nearby resorts.
The resort was made famous by one-time owner Frank Sinatra and many other Hollywood celebrities such as Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Junior, Marilyn Monroe and Peter Lawford. The Cal Neva was built in 1926 between the California and Nevada state border in Crystal Bay.
The current wner, Namwest LLCC, purchased the resort from Charles Bluth in 2005. According to Josef Haas, the casino resort's general manager, the renovations are scheduled to end by spring 2009.
