Atlantic City Casino Camera Operators Fined

Three camera operators and surveillance supervisors at Caesars Atlantic City were fined and had their license suspended after they used security cameras in the casino to spy on women.

According to New Jersey state officials, the three security officers, Donald D. Smith, James Doherty and John Paul Arambulo used to use the high-powered cameras to zoom in on the cleavage and buttocks of women wearing low-cut blouses or tight dresses during the casino's graveyard shift, when the action usually slows down and there's not as much to keep an eye on.

The case ended Wednesday when Donald D. Smith was fined $500 by the Casino Control Commission for his role in filming in October 2004. According to authorities, he recorded more than 90 minutes' worth of unauthorized footage. John Paul Arambulo had his license suspended for five days for filming 16 minutes of unauthorized footage

James Doherty had his casino license suspended for 20 days last August. A fourth person, surveillance worker, Robert Swan, had also been accused in the case, but was cleared last summer of any wrongdoing after authorities reviewed the 11 minutes of footage he had shot. Caesars fired the four workers.

Caesars has already paid a $185,000 fine to settle charges resulting from the case.
