At least two private schools in the United Kingdom have drafted gambling experts to stop students from getting deeply involved in gambling.

Headmasters of the schools, King's College School and Harrow, have been concerned about the ever growing number of teenagers who gamble online and decided to bring in former gambling addicts and Gamblers Anonymous to give the students sessions about gambling and the danger of gambling addiction.

King's College School, a £12,000-a-year private school in Wimbledon, south London, investigated into the fact that some students were not able to focus on their studies and found that they have been playing at online gambling sites all night.

The school brought in parents to discuss the problem and teachers were updated of the issue.

Harrow School, a £21,000-a-year boarding school in Middlesex, recently introduced a session on gambling into personal, health and social education.

A recent study in the United Kingdom found that 25 percent of the 8,000 children surveyed, said they had gambled in the last week.

Professor Mark Griffiths, director of the International Gaming Research Unit at Nottingham Trent University, which has just produced guidance for schools to teach children about gambling, said that adolescent gambling should be taken as seriously as a health and social issue.
