The holding company Trump Entertainment Resorts Inc., which manages Donald Trump’s casinos in Atlantic city, is presently exploring the sale of one or all three properties.
Trump Entertainment manages Trump Marina, Trump Taj Mahal and Trump Plaza.
Recent reports have stated that the Trump Marina as being the projected property for sale due in part to its need for renovations and its potential for success in the Marina portion of the city.
After talking to a mid level casino official requesting anonymity the actual goal is to sell Trump Marina and the Trump Plaza. The reason behind this agenda is that both properties need remodeling. The Trump Taj Mahal would be kept as its renovations are proceeding to completion and it is poised for a new marketing campaign.
In any case, the consolidation phase continues within the casino industry particularly in Atlantic City.
As this reporter mentioned in a previous article, after Aztar Corp.'s purchase of the Tropicana, hundreds of the casino’s employees have been laid off. Their numbers have been added to those employees that were laid off with the closing of the Sands Casino last fall.
