Philadelphia Man Pleads Guilty In Casino Scam

A 35-year-old Philadelphia man has pleaded guilty to running a credit card scam and stealing nearly $2 million at the Foxwoods Resort Casino.

Federal prosecutors said Wednesday that Sung Huynh faces five years in prison. He used a network of accomplices who assisted him in finding casino players who would participate in his scheme.

Huynh ran the operation for a year until the authorities closed it down in February. The operation used credit card numbers, cash disbursement operations and false bank accounts which they used to transfer funds into.

By receiving fake payments to these credit card accounts, patrons got cash advance receipts they could use to get money from a cash cage at the Foxwoods casino.

According to prosecutors, Huynh received between 25 percent and 40 percent from the patrons and paid 10 percent to the assistance who solicited the patron.

Federal authorities said their investigation continues and they will determine any financial liability that may be assessed against credit card holders who took part in the operation.

Huynh faces up to 5 years in prison and a $100,000 fine when he is sentenced in July.
