Dealers at the Atlantic City Hilton Casino have voted against joining the United Auto workers. The dealers voted on Saturday and narrowly rejected the proposal to enter the union.
The outcome of the vote was 316-268 against joining the UAW. Atlantic City's 11 casinos are beginning to consider joining the union – 5 casinos have already voted to join (Caesars Atlantic City and Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino) or will hold vote to decide on the issue.
Tony Rodio, President of the Atlantic City Hilton Casino Resort, said in a statement Sunday that they respect the decision.
"The Atlantic City Hilton respects the informed decision made by our dealers and hopes the UAW will do likewise," said Rodio, ""We appreciate the vote of confidence that our dealers have made."
On June 2, employees at Bally's Atlantic City will vote on whether to join the UAW. Union officials said they will continue with their organizing efforts at the rest of the casinos in Atlantic City.
