The Sands Hotel and Casino, one of Atlantic City's first casinos, closed its doors in November 2006. The casino has opened a sale of its entire contents to the public today, May 3, and until every piece of property is sold.

Hoteliers, restaurant owners and other industry insiders were invited yesterday to view the items being offered and had the first chance to buy them. The gold chandelier from Frank Sinatra's suite, for example costs $4,250. Eevry thing in the Sands Casino is for sale from $2,250 canopy beds to $2 logoed bottle openers.
The event is a sale, not an auction, and buyers have to pay a 10 percent buyers' premium plus $10 entrance fee.
The Sands is known as the city's smallest casino. It became known as the "Players Place" and marketed its connection with such celebrities as Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack that orbited him.
