Dusk till Dawn (DTD), a UK poker club who was set to open Europe's largest poker room in Nottingham, was blocked from obtaining a license, after 3 casino chains objected to their gambling license.
During a hearing at Nottingham Magistrates Court, London Clubs International, Gala and Stanley's raised the objections. Due to the compulsory adjournment of the hearing, the case will not be heard again until September 24.
Rob Yong, DTD's Managing Director, said that they have already recruited all of the key staff and that the property is ready. Each month of delay costs DTD $200,000 in wages and running costs, according to Yong.
Yong is adamant in his commitment to keep the legal battle and see it through until the end. DTD's plan is to open a $14,000,000 poker club, which will be Europe's biggest, at 21,000-sq-feet – as big as Manchester's proposed super casino. The planned club has a capacity to seat 500 players and it will contain over 50 ten-seat poker tables, a restaurant/bar, and even a TV studio to show games live on TV.
