PartyGaming Initiates Talks With U.S. Authorities

PartyGaming, one of the biggest online gaming companies, has initiated talks with the US Attorney's Office in order to clarify its position following the ban on online gambling that the country enacted in October 2006.

The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act effectively banned online gambling in the U.S. and caused several online gambling companies to close down or reduce their activities.

PartyGaming closed its operations in the country and cut its workforce by 40 percent. However, in March it said that its market share had recovered after it attracted more European players.

PartyGaming, operator of Party Poker and Party Casino, released a statement that said that it "believes that online gaming should be offered by regulated, reputable operators and that this remains the right approach to this industry sector."
