While Atlantic City and Las Vegas have mega size casinos, one will never be mistaken for the other. Recently, Atlantic City has begun to copy the building boom of Las Vegas. Thousands of hotel rooms are being added to the town.
Comments made by analysts in prior years have been that the shore resort was limited by the low number of first class hotel rooms.
The goal is to make it a long term stay where visitors will stay for three or four days.
One of the projects is the second tower of the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa. Top management celebrated a topping off ceremony last week.
Christened as The Water Club, it will include 800 rooms, five swimming pools along with many other amenities.
If you have visited Atlantic City recently you have had to notice Harrah’s new hotel tower. Not to be outdone by its neighbor the Borgata, Harrah’s tower will be taller and house 941 rooms. Harrah’s opening of The Pool Memorial Day weekend has been a tremendous success.
Harrah’s Corporation is completing expansions at its other three casinos: Bally’s, Sowboat and Caesars.
Trump has spent 225 million in upgrades to his three casinos. A new tower at the Taj Mahal will add 800 rooms to the city’s room inventory.
The Hilton, the smallest casino in town, plans a 1 billion expansion.
The Tropicana recently spent 15 million refurbishing rooms and opening the Providence nightclub.
