Online gambling group and bookmaker William Hill is moving its operations from the Dutch Antilles in the Caribbean to Gibraltar.

This relocation comes before an impending ban by the British Government on the advertising of gambling sites. Only sites that operate in what is considered "white-listed" territories (within the European Economic Area) , such as Gibraltar, will be allowed to advertise online gambling.

Among the white-listed areas are Gibraltar, Isle of Man and Alderney. Many of the major online casinos are based in Gibraltar, such as 888.com, PartyGaming and Ladbrokes.

Among the gambling sites that are based in the Dutch Antilles include Interpoker.com, Littlewoodscasino.com and Betfred Casino & Poker, which are expected to follow in William Hill's footsteps and move to Gibraltar.

Betfred Casino and Poker, Interpoker.com and Littlewoodscasino.com. These firms are expected to follow William Hill's example and move on.

The law against the advertising of online gambling sites will go into effect September 1, 2007 and will cover TV, newspapers, radio, public transportation and magazines. More than a 1,000 gambling operators will be affected by this ban.
