Atlantic City Casino Settles for $1.2 Million Over Toilet Accident Lawsuit

A 74-year-old woman from Philadelphia will be paid $1.2 million in a settlement with the Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort in Atlantic City after she was injured when her toilet seat broke and she fell top the floor.

According to Jean Ciocci's lawsuit she was " "thrown violently to the floor" on October 8th, 2004, when the toilet seat in her Taj Mahal suite bathroom broke off from the wall.

The Taj Mahal did not issue any response on the matter. Hotel spokesman Tom Hickey said that they regret any injury a guest of the hotel sustains during their stay. According to the Atlantic City Press, Ciocci's lawyer said that the hotel behaved responsibly by recognizing their fault in the mishap and offering to settle.

Ciocci claimed in her lawsuit that the fall in the Taj Mahal and the injuries she sustained prevented her from avoiding worse injuries when she fell a second time, this time at a Reading social club in 2006, which left her with permanent disabilities.
