A new giant hotel and casino is coming to Atlantic City. MGM Mirage has announced plans for a resort which will be one of the more expensive and lavish ever.
The new project, the MGM Grand Atlantic City, will be a massive 3,000-room hotel, casino and entertainment complex with a price tag of between $4.5 billion to $5 billion. Currently, the most expensive casino in Las Vegas, the Wynn Las Vegas, cost $2.7 billion to build.
The planned casino sets a new standard for hotels and casinos worldwide. It surpasses in cost the world's most expensive casino projects currently under construction in Las Vegas, Singapore and Macau.
Even though Atlantic City's gambling revenue has decreased in the past year due to competition from casinos and gambling parlors in neighboring Pennsylvania and New York, the new resort will be built on a massive 72-acre tract near the Borgata, with 5,000 slot machines and 200 table games gaming area. It will not only be the city's largest and most expensive casino but also the tallest building in Atlantic City.
