Paddy Power has special plans for the Paddy Power Poker 2008 Irish Poker Open – which will be the first in its history to feature a Ladies Event.

The Irish Poker Open has been running since 1981, and each event is a celebration – a week long festival of poker.

The inaugural Irish Open Ladies poker event will begin on Good Friday, and will be a €330 no limit hold'em tournament. Nikki Newman, the Head of Poker at Paddy Power Poker cited famous female Irish players such as Colette Doherty, Irene Tier and Jenny Heggerty as inspiration for the new event.

Paddy Power is planning several side events in addition to the 3 million Euro main event. These side games include a 'scalp' game where players gather bounties and cash in on them when the game ends.

Players wishing to have a chance at a seat on the tournament can enter super satellites, which are running now.
