The US Coast Guard is currently searching for a crewman who has been reported missing from the 'Island Adventure' gambling ship. The Indian crewman, 44 year old Oliviero Fernandes was reported missing at noon on Tuesday after he had not been seen since 9:30 on Monday Evening.

Two coast guard boats have been deployed, and were searching throughout the day on Tuesday. The search was called off overnight due to poor visibility, but is due to resume in the morning.

The Island Adventure is a SeaEscape owned vessel which sails outside of US waters for onboard gambling, then returns – the trips are called a 'cruise to nowhere'.

Fernandes had been working with SeaEscape as an assistant cook for just over a month, and has experience with other cruise lines. Judi Jarvis, an exective for SeaEscape said that it was not considered unusual when he was not seen on Monday evening, as there are 300 crew members living onboard the ship and he could have been sleeping, however the crew knew there was something wrong when he did not turn up for work on Tuesday morning.

The crew searched the ship several times before calling the Coast Guard, who then dispatched multiple ships to search the area where the Island Adventure had been sailing the previous evening.
