The search for a woman, who says she killed her husband over gambling losses at the Harrah's Rincon Casino Resort in Valley Center, San Diego, and planned to kill herself, has failed.
Sheriff's deputies, and a SWAT team, began the search on Tuesday, but were unable to find her.
A switchboard operator at the hotel received a mobile phone call from the woman at about 3 p.m, claiming she was in a hotel room. Some witnesses claimed they heard noises at about the same time the call came in.
Authoriites locked down the third floor and used bomb and arson robots to check all 55 of the rooms on the floor. The search finished at around midnight, when it was decided that the woman had either slipped out before deputies arrived, or had not called from the third floor.
Sheriff's Lt. Phil Brust said "We consider the information not credible", although he did add that they would continue to investigate the call.
The casino remained open the entire time, and there were no evacuations. Many guests who left the casino that night said that they were unaware that anything had happened, even though they had been at the casino gambling for several hours.
