60 Minutes are reportedly working on a story about the online poker industry, focusing on Alan John Grimard, the alleged poker cheat who almost brought down one of the top poker rooms in the industry last year, while working as a consultant. The report will also uncover some other 'shady' aspects of the online poker industry.
Nat Arem from PokerHelper.com said that “In terms of agenda, I've been told the goal is to tell the story from soup to nuts [...] I don't really know if that means a negative agenda for online poker, but I get the feeling that it might. This means that this story is unlikely to be good for online poker as a whole.”
60 Minutes has ran online gambling stories in the past, usually portraying online casinos in a negative light. One recent piece showed a minor able to access an online casino using their parent's credit card.
The casino in question, the Golden Palace, was later fined for allowing the minor to access the site, but the 60 Minutes report did not give much credit to the fact that several other attempts made by the minor to gain access to other casino sites had been unsuccessful.
