This Friday, ePassporte deposits stopped working on online poker sites, and all poker sites that use ePassporte removed the deposit option from their cashier page. Some sites cited technical difficulties as the reason for removing the deposit, passing on what little information Epassporte had given at the time.
According to some unconfirmed reports, ePassporte have informed poker sites that the United States Attourney's Office for the Southern District of New York are conducting an investigation into internet gambling. ePassporte have chosen to pull out of the online poker market because of the investigation, and have suspended the accounts of online poker sites 'pending further review'.
An official statement has not yet been relesed by ePassporte, or any of the poker sites, however most sites are advising players to use other deposit methods, although they are not able to give players details as to why.
Some players are concerned that this could be a repeat of the problems that occurred with NeTeller last year, when accounts were frozen for several months. In this case, player accounts have not been frozen, so players should not be concerned about accessing funds in their ePassporte account.
