Day 4 of the European Poker Tour Grand Final started with a quick pace. While everyone still in the game would not be going home empty handed, the difference in winnings between going home in the final 40, and being one of the final 10, is quite a motivator.
The first batch of eliminations came in thich and fast, with names such as Freddy Deeb and Claudio Pagano being sent home early. Johnny Lodden, who had been dominant in days two and three, struggled throughout day four, and was eventually eliminated by Henrik Gwinner, who won a big hand against Lodden, then used his own chips to eliminate him.
Antonio Esfandiara, who had gone in to the day as the chip leader, also struggled throughout today. Losing a big hand to Stiq Rasmussen at the start of the day, then clawing his way back up, only to face another two rollercoaster hands against Glen Chorny. He did manage to make it into the final 10, but in a much weaker position than he had been in at the start of the day.
Chorny, in part due to those two big wins against Esfandiara, went on to finish the day as chip leader.
