More news has become available on the ePassporte payment situation. Until recently, ePassporte was one of the main methods used by American online casino site users, but last weekend they closed down their online gambling service, and ceased accepting payments or withdrawals for online gambling transactions.

According to many poker sites, the move follows investigations into online gambling, and ePassporte management sent letters to poker sites saying "Although we do not believe we have done anything illegal, we do not wish to be associated with anything that might be considered illegal by the United States Government".

ePassporte account holders can still make withdrawals of their current outstanding balance using their ATM card, but if they have any funds currently in their online casino accounts, they are being advised to use other transaction methods such as e-checks to access their funds instead.

This move makes online gambling slightly less accessible for US customers, only time will tell if another payment processor will rise to fill the gap.
