Backgammon Masters will be attempting to break records during the forthcoming backgammon tournament, when they will be going for the world's farthest backgammon dice roll.
Two famous backgammon players will face off on a 1-acre outdoor backgammon board, and will be rolling their giant dice from 200-300 feet in the air, in helicopters flying above the 1-acre field backgammon board. The dice, which were specially designed for the event, are made of a tough inflatable material that will protect them from the fall.
Moves will be made via walkie-talkie, with the players communicating their instructions to the people on the ground, who will move the three-foot in diameter checker pieces according to their instructions.
The event has been organized with advice from Quentin Smith, a pilot and explorer who has braved both desert climates and the Arctic. Smith helped to pick the location, and is ensuring that important regulations and safety standards are being met.
The winner of the tournament will be allowed to keep the custom-made dice as a trophy. The dice are valued at 1,000 Euros. The proceeds from ticket sales for the tournament will be donated to charity.
