Horse racing and sports betting fans will be pleased to learn that Casino Prince will be entering the Stradbroke Handicap – the owners, Connections, will pay the $22,000 late entry fee today to allow the horse to run in the race.

Damien Oliver hopes to be the one to ride Casino Prince, pending an appeal against a 10-meeting suspension.

Oliver rode Casino Prince at Eagle Farm for some trackwork yesterday, and told trainer Anthony Cummings that Casino Price had excellent form.

Casino Prince became favourite for the Stradbroke Handicap when his entry plans were announced, and it is expected that he will remain favorite when he becomes a legitimate candidate after the fee is paid. He is currently a $6 equal favourite with El Cambio, the horse trained by Peter Snowden.

Damien Oliver has been the regular jockey for Casino Prince throughout the year, but was suspended last Saturday for careless riding at Doomben. He lodged an appeal against the penalty, saying that it was too severe, and the hearing will take place on Friday. Oliver plans to request that the penalty be reduced to a two meeting suspension, which would leave him clear to ride Casino Prince at the Stradbroke Handicap, which will take place on June 7th.
