Poker player wins five-figure sum after starting the session behind on the chip count.
Jason Gladden has been crowned the 2008 Bayou Poker Challenge $500 buy-in Pot-Limit Omaha champion at a casino in New Orleans.The Ocean Springs player took home $25,099 (£12,925), having started the final day of the tournament third in the chip count.
Gladden finished ahead of Jody Simon and Ricky Byrd, who won $13,944 and $8,366 respectively. It was the first time in his poker career that Gladden has won money at a World Series of Poker circuit event.
The New Orleans competition had 44 entries and 71 re-buys, which helped contribute to a total prize pool of $55,775.
Some 15 events make up the Bayou Poker Challenge, which began on May 9th and runs until May 21st. Most of the poker games for the remainder of this week will see players battle it out at no limit hold'em.
