Online gambling complaint figures drop

Latest figures from eCOGRA show that smaller numbers of people are issuing complaints about online gambling than they were this time last year.

Online gambling complaints dropped by 12 per cent year-on-year in the first quarter of 2008.

Player protection group eCOGRA said there were 127 valid disputes raised by online gamblers during the three-month period - 44 per cent of which were resolved in favour of the player.

The main cause for complaint – generating 61 disputes in total - was to do with Cash In, according to the organisation's fair gaming advocate Tex Rees, who explained that this made up 48 per cent of all valid disputes received.

"Bonus issues constituted 27 per cent of the disputes, followed by locked account issues at 17 per cent and miscellaneous complaints at eight per cent," he added.

Online gambling website 888.com holds the eCOGRA seal of approval, which means it is a "safe and fair" place to gamble. This accreditation was issued in May 2004 and was renewed on April 14th 2008.
