Rossi Speaks Out Against Poker Law

Dino Rossi spoke out in a recent interview against the recent poker law signed by Gov. Chris Gregoire. The law makes playing online poker a Class C felony, and has been a very hot topic in both the poker playing community, and the mainstream media.

In the interview with CardPlayer.com, Rossi said that he would not have signed the 2006 bill. When asked what he would do if he was elected, Rossi said:

"What I’d like to do is to make sure that we are not making people felons and we are not being intrusive in people’s homes and checking their computers and trying to hunt them down because they played Internet poker. It’s kind of ridiculous to equate that to five DUIs or stealing nine cars. It just doesn’t make sense to me, so what I’ve been clear about is I think that the heavy-handiness [sic] is ridiculous, and I would defiantly [sic] file legislation that would change that to something more reasonable."

Rossi also made it clear that he does not support expanded gambling licenses, but that he does believe that poker is a game of skill, although he did not indicate if the game should be considered a game of skill in the eyes of the law.
