The Dermot Weld trained Casual Conquest is the 3/1 favourite with 888sport for the Vodafone Derby.
Trainer Dermot Weld has confirmed he is now keen for Casual Conquest to run in next weekend's Vodafone Derby.Weld's colt is the 3/1 favourite with 888sport for the Epsom classic after romping to a six-length victory in the Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial at Leopardstown last month.
Casual Conquest's owner Walter Haefner - the man behind Moyglare Stud - is still to enter him for the biggest event of England's flat racing season, with the £75,000 supplementary fee thought to be the issue.
However, after putting the colt through his paces on Wednesday, Weld is confident he would have a genuine chance of victory at Epsom.
"I will speak later today to Mr Haefner and my recommendation for him is to run at Epsom. I will encourage him to supplement the horse and to run in the race," Weld told the Racing Post.
Should he run at Epsom, Casual Conquest's biggest threat is likely to come from the Luca Cumani-trained Curtain Call, as 2,000 Guineas winner Henrythenavigator is now thought unlikely to compete.
