Tiger Woods is the 11/8 favourite with 888sport to win the US Open despite his recent lack of tournament practice.

Tiger Woods will not return from his knee injury until the opening day of the US Open, his agent has revealed.

The world number one - who is the 11/8 favourite with 888sport for the US Open - has been on the sidelines since undergoing arthroscopic surgery on April 15th, but had been expected to make his comeback at this week's Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village.

However, Mark Steinberg of Woods' management company IMG said: "Tiger was looking forward to playing at the Memorial. But unfortunately, the timing of his recovery will not allow him to do so."

There is another PGA Tour event, the St Jude Championship, before the US Open begins at Torrey Pines on June 12th, but the 32-year-old is known to prefer not to play in a tournament the week before a major.

As a result, Woods will attempt to add to his 2000 and 2002 successes without having played any competitive golf for two months.

Meanwhile, world number two Phil Mickelson continued his preparations for the US Open by winning the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial last weekend.
