Chorley man heads to Las Vegas again in search of the biggest poker prize, while Leicestershire accountant wins first big card tournament.
A pair of English poker players have set their sights on success in America.Lancashire player Jonathan Kalmer, who finished fifth in last year's World Series of Poker (WSOP) main event in Las Vegas to win more than $1 million (£500,000), is heading to the same city to try and do even better in the 2008 competition.
Meanwhile, Leicester accountant Neil Blatchly has indicated that the US is the next step for him after he won the Bristol leg of the GalaCoral Great British Poker Tour (GBPT) at the weekend.
In an interview with the Chorley Guardian, Kalmar - whose success in 2007 has made him a known face in the global poker community - said that he is now driving a nicer car than he was before reaching the WSOP final table.
Blatchly, on the other hand, has suggested that the £34,750 he won in Bristol will be used to pay for tournaments in America.
"I'll be using the cash to invest in a poker bankroll as I'm off to Las Vegas later this week to see if I can recreate my success across the pond," he commented.
