There has been a spate of poker tournaments being held for charity in recent months, and the Century Casino and Hotel in Edmonton is adding themselves to the list of charity involved casinos, holding a celebrity tournament for charity.
The casino plans to hold the first in a series of annual Celebrity Poker Tournaments this month, with the tournament being held in aid of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Alberta on June 14th. The tournament will feature some of the top canadian celebrities.
Corner Gas is a very popular television show in canada, and Lorne Cardinal and Tara Spencer-Nairn, two of the show's stars, will be participating in the tournament. Also on the entry list will be Rochelle Loewen, a Playboy model and WWE star.
There will be 77 entrants in the tournament, which will begin at 2PM on June 14th. The tournament will be held in the casino's new 24 hour poker room, and a portion of the entry fee will go to the MS Society. There will also be a silent auction held on the final day of the tournament, with the proceeds from the auction going to the charity. The items to be auctioned have not yet been announced.
