Poker player gives six-figure winnings to a charity he believes in after success at World Series of Poker (WSOP).
The Dedication Education Foundation (DEF) has been given $415,856 (£211,000) by a winning poker player.California-based DEF received the financial gift from Eric Brooks, who picked up the prize at the WSOP in Las Vegas this month.
Executive director of the organisation Carl Spetzler said that the money would really help the charity's work.
"Our passion for aggressively moving ahead is limited only by our current resources," he explained."This gift will greatly help us in developing additional curriculum and expanding our teacher outreach."
Brooks, who won the money in a seven-card stud event at the month-long World Series, claimed that DEF was a group he admires and believed in. He said that he likes how the charity helps young people make the right choices.
Jennifer Tilly and Doyle Brunson are two famous poker players currently battling for cash prizes at the WSOP, which runs until July.
