Annie Duke - poker queen

Annie Duke comments on her best moments in poker and claims a World Series of Poker (WSOP) Omaha hi-lo win in 2004 ranks as a defining victory.

Top female poker player Annie Duke has said her best achievement in the game came in the 2004 WSOP when she outlasted 234 other contestants to win a bracelet in the Omaha hi-lo eights or better event.

In an interview with the Concord Monitor, Duke reflected on her career as a poker professional but told the newspaper that her WSOP success four years ago was the pinnacle.

"That's definitely my crowning achievement," Duke said, before adding that she is "not really looking to leave a legacy" in the game.

Duke - whose 2005 autobiography Annie Duke: How I raised, folded, bluffed, flirted, cursed and won millions at the World Series of Poker - is still selling well today, has won more than $4 million (£2 million) in her lucrative card career so far.

Over the years, she has been involved in tournaments throughout the world, including WSOP events since 1994, and has even beaten her own brother Howard Lederer on occasions.

She is also keen for women to compete at poker on an even ground with men, and does not see why this cannot happen.
