Dealers and cards may become a rare sight in some casinos, thanks to an innovative ten player electronic poker table. The 'X10 Ten Player Automated Table' allows up to ten players to enjoy a game of Texas Hold'em – with each player having their own 12 inch touch screen to interact with the table, and a 27 inch LCD in the center where the community cards can be seen.
The hands for each player are kept private, with players able to 'peel' the corners of their cards so that they can take a peek at the hand that they are holding. Flops, turns, and rivers are displayed to all players via the LCD in the middle of the table.
The table does not come cheap. A smaller 'Heads Up Challenge' version is available, but this ten player version weighs in at $29,950 – a hefty price tag that leaves it out of reach of the average home player. You could expect some of these to crop up in casinos, however.
This is not the first dealer-less table to be released, but it feels and plays much more like a real poker table compared to many others, which have players sat in front of a traditional screen. In this version, players are sat around a more traditional looking poker table. Whether players will enjoy this, or feel that they are missing out on interaction with a dealer, is another matter.
