Faces from the world of music, film and television were among those knocked out of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Ladies no-limit Texas hold'em event on Sunday.
Comedy actress Cheryl Hines and country and western performer Mindy McCready were both knocked out of the Ladies no-limit Texas hold'em event at the WSOP in Las Vegas on Sunday. The two famous females were among a number of celebrity players to be eliminated from the poker tournament in Sin City.
Although Desperate Housewives star Teri Hatcher and American Pie actress Shannon Elizabeth could not make the competition, regular poker player Jennifer Tilly and Ghost Whisperer cast member Camryn Manheim were present at the table.
Tilly, who won a WSOP gold bracelet three years ago, lasted less than one hour this time around, while Manheim met her match in First Lady of Poker Linda Johnson.
In his column in last week's Las Vegas Review-Journal, writer Ed Graney claimed that the appearance of celebrities on the poker circuit has been a major factor in the game's recent growth.
