New casino heading to West Midlands

Following a year-long tendering process, Genting Standing has been chosen by NEC Group to create a new casino and hospitality arena near Birmingham.

Gaming and Leisure organisation Genting Standing will be able to help bring NEC Group's hotel and casino vision to life, according to the latter's chief executive Paul Thandi.

Commenting to the Birmingham Post following NEC Group's decision to choose Genting Standing as its partner for a £90 million gambling and leisure complex in Solihull, Mr Thandi claimed the right partnership had been found.

The gaming group will be given the task of operating NEC Group's casino – a building being touted as a provider of employment for local people and a central part of overall regeneration in the area.

"It has always been our first priority to find the best possible partner for the NEC, for Solihull and for the wider West Midlands – a company that shares our vision of creating places where people come to discover the future," Mr Thandi told the newspaper.

Genting Stanley's experienced team will help achieve the goals of the project, he added.

Great Yarmouth in Norfolk may also be getting a new casino in the near future with authorities in the region currently considering proposals for a multi-million pound gambling venue.
