Famous faces were often spotted playing blackjack and other table games in Las Vegas during the 1960s, a casino fan has claimed.
Las Vegas was a city brimming with glamour and fun in the 1960s, and visitors to Sin City would often see famous stars at the blackjack tables, according to a Naperville Sun reader.Following the publication's request for first casino memories, a lady called Diane got in touch with the newspaper to say how much she enjoyed the Las Vegas of 50 years ago.
The casino fan - who first went to the city in 1969 - explained that it was not unusual to see Sonny Bono playing blackjack at the Flamingo casino or Lucille Ball trying to get lucky at a game of craps.
"Vegas back then was glamorous, exciting, fun, small and intimate," the gambling fan stated.
She added that dealers - such as those who look after the roulette wheels and blackjack tables - "learned your name and treated you like a queen or king" when playing.
Las Vegas still has a number of glamorous parts today, although it is growing all the time. New York-New York hotel and casino announced this week that it is opening a new club called Rok in August, which is sure to draw in the crowds on the city's famous Strip.
