Reality TV betting is expected to grow in popularity, but not at the rate it has over the last few years.
Gambling on reality television is set to continue in popularity, but the growth of the market is unlikely to carry on at the same rate as previous years. That is the opinion of William Hill public relations manager Jennie Prest, who believes there are still "plenty of people" who are yet to place online bets or put money on something at the bookies.
She also claims that there has been rapid growth in punters putting bets on television shows, due to the high amount of reality TV series hitting the screens in recent years. However, this could also have a different effect on the industry's growth.
"With the established ones - like Big Brother, I'm A Celebrity [and] The X Factor - I think in that respect [betting] probably has reached saturation point," she explained.
William Hill took £150,000 on the final day of betting for ITV show Britain's Got Talent - this was a record high for reality TV betting.
