Ladbrokes predicts that £350 million will be placed on football betting during this month’s European Championship – a record for the four-yearly tournament.
Football betting for this summer's European Championship will reach record levels in the UK and Ireland, according to gambling group Ladbrokes.Some £350 million could be spent by both online gambling customers and those placing bets in bookmakers across the home nations, it states.
Company spokesman Ciaran O'Brien remarked: "No home team qualification means we won't have the patriotic betting we would normally see."

He added that – in terms of turnover – it will be a record European Championship due to a number of features, including the growth of online gambling and betting on football in general.
Gambling portal 888Sport.com makes Germany favourites to lift the trophy at 4/1, while Spain are at 5/1 and Portugal and world champions Italy are at 7/1.
