Arcades must ensure their slots and other gambling facilities meet certain criteria, according to the Gambling Commission.
The Gambling Commission will be working closely with local authorities throughout the UK this summer to make sure seaside arcades are following the correct procedures regarding their slots and other machines.New legislation was introduced last year under the Gambling Act 2005, which requires arcades and other gambling venues to provide information to visitors on how to gamble responsibly.
Moreover, children need to be protected from such places, while the entertainment providers must be able to offer help relating to problem gambling.
All of these measures were introduced last year as gambling companies were given wider scope to advertise their services and games, such as slots, roulette and poker.
Director of operations at the Gambling Commission Nick Tofiluk said: "Seaside arcades need to operate within these rules which offer important protections for children and vulnerable people."
Popular seaside arcades can be found in a number of UK towns and cities, including Newquay on the south-west coast and Brighton in the south-east.
